5.1.4. A control system of temperature of the air given to the engine

GENERAL INFORMATION

The system (single-point injection) is run by the vacuum switch, sensitive to temperature, installed in a throttle casing. When air temperature, passing through a throttle, is below 35 °C, the vacuum switch is open, allowing depression of an inlet collector to influence an air diaphragm of the valve of regulation of temperature in the basis of a casing of the air filter. Vacuum raises a diaphragm and moves the valve of a folding shutter of an air inlet therefore the air which is warmed up about a final collector comes to the engine.

At increase in temperature of the arriving air due to heating by its final collector, the wax capsule in the vacuum switch closes the switch, blocking vacuum to the valve of adjustment of temperature of the arriving air. As vacuum is blocked, the folding shutter of an air inlet moves and closes the adjusting valve at a temperature about 40 °C. At the same time only cold air from a forward part of the car comes to the engine.

Check

Cool the engine, then separate the inlet channel from a forward part of a casing of the air filter. The valve of a folding shutter of the adjusting valve has to block intake of hot air. Start the engine. The folding shutter at the same time has to rise and block immediately intake of cold air and, after warming up of the engine, has to move and open supply only of cold air.

To check the vacuum switch, disconnect a vacuum pipe from the adjusting valve and close a tube a finger. During the operation of the cold engine in a tube vacuum has to be felt, and after warming up of the engine up to the normal working temperature vacuum has to be absent.

To check operation of the valve of adjustment of temperature of the arriving air, separate the inlet channel from a casing of the air filter. The valve of a folding shutter has to close intake of hot air in the engine. Disconnect a vacuum pipe and create in it depression. At the same time the folding shutter has to move and block intake of cold air in the engine.
