4.3. Air conditioning system

GENERAL INFORMATION

On some models the air conditioning system is installed. The system works as follows. The compressor compresses reagent and gives it to the condenser where reagent becomes liquid and reduces the temperature. Liquid reagent passes through the expansion valve to the evaporator where extends from liquid under high pressure to gas under low pressure. This expansion is followed by fall of temperature which cools the evaporator. Reagent comes back to the compressor and the cycle is repeated. The air which passed through the evaporator gets to the distributor where mixes up with the hot air which passed through a heater therefore the set air temperature is reached.

The only action which can be executed independently on the air conditioning system is a replacement of a driving compressor belt.


Prevention

The air conditioning system is under pressure therefore it is impossible to weaken any connections in air conditioning system pressure is not taken off yet.


Air conditioning system has to be served by exclusively prepared technicians trained in safe working methods, with use of the appropriate equipment, with observance of rules of depressurization, acquainted with methods of collecting and order of storage of automobile coolant.

At work on the air conditioning system it is necessary to consider the following:

The air conditioning system is filled with reagents which are very dangerous substances. During the work with reagents they should not get on an upholstery, clothes, into eyes and on a body of the person. At hit on a body reagents will cause a severe frostbite. Also it is impossible to carry out works with reagents in the closed volume since vapors of reagent can cause suffocation. Reagents it is heavier than air therefore gather in the lower parts of the room or a viewing hole.

During the work near air conditioning system put on goggles.

At hit of coolant on skin or eyes do not pound the struck place. Immediately wash out cold water within not less than 15 minutes. Immediately see a doctor or in medical institution. Self-treatment is not allowed.

It is impossible to influence reagents of the air conditioning system an open flame since at the same time poisonous gas is formed, and in certain cases there can be also an explosion.

Discharge the air conditioning system only in the corresponding containers since otherwise serious damage will be caused to the surrounding nature.

In case of any separation of the air conditioning system, filling and reduction of system in an order need to be made at the station.

If it is necessary to make the welding, the soldering or other works connected with high temperatures about air conditioning system it it is necessary to discharge previously.

Cleaning of the condenser or evaporator by means of water vapor is not allowed, it is necessary to use only cold water or compressed air.
